OPTIONS!!!

The MYSA Ball Committee is exploring various options for our teams this season.  We will continue to offer our traditional 'recreational' baseball program which includes play in the Blue River League (I-80 League for Pony players).

We are also hoping to add an additional "Tournament Team" option for those players that want more games than the traditional 15-game season but don't want to be on a Lincoln select baseball team.  (See the form for more details).

SOFTBALL

We are continuing to work on bettering our softball program in Malcolm.   Our options for 2009 are similar to last year's but we are making the commitment to pay more attention to softball and continue to improve the program.  Our desire to one day (in the near future) provide quality programs at all age levels for Malcolm players.

We need a separate form for each child

NOTE:  If your child already owns a helmet that meets the NOCSAE safety standard with a mask you will not need to purchase one.

MYSA does not offer a program for children in Kindergarten or younger.

Students in Kindergarten and younger are encouraged to pursue a t-ball league through Lincoln Little League or YMCA

We have two primary concerns:

1) Player Safety - our league uses a 'hard' baseball.

Baseball is dangerous enough and we believe that most 5 or 6 year-olds aren't ready to play at this level.

We believe that it is best for boys to learn the fundamentals of the game of baseball (how to swing, how to throw, how to make an out, etc.) in a less competitive and safer learning environment.

2) Numbers - we usually have more than enough players to fill a Wee Pee team.

If we open up to kindergarteners our numbers get pretty hard to manage.

It is MYSA's recommendation that parents of Kindergarten or younger Malcolm students should check with each other to determine the level of interest for a tee ball team.  Figure out who can coach the team, then work together to register as a group either through the YMCA or Lincoln Little League.
