Malcolm Baseball/Softball Registration

MYSA will be accepting registrations for baseball and softball from now through March 5th.

Registration is open to students 1st Grade (current '09-'10 school year) and older.

In-person Registration Night will be THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 25th from 5:30 - 7:30

at the MPS Administration Building.

Registration DEADLINE is MARCH 5th.

MYSA does not offer a program for children in Kindergarten or younger.

Students in Kindergarten and younger are encouraged to pursue a t-ball league through Lincoln Little League or YMCA. 

We have two primary concerns:

1) Player Safety - our league uses a 'hard' baseball. 

Baseball is dangerous enough and we believe that most 5 or 6 year-olds aren't ready to play at this level.

We believe that it is best for boys to learn the fundamentals of the game of baseball (how to swing, how to throw, how to make an out, etc.) in a less competitive and safer learning environment.

2) Numbers - we usually have more than enough players to fill a Wee Pee team. 

If we open up to kindergarteners our numbers get pretty hard to manage. 

It is MYSA's recommendation that parents of Kindergarten or younger Malcolm students should check with each other to determine the level of interest for a tee ball team.  Figure out who can coach the team, then work together to register as a group either through the YMCA or Lincoln Little League.
